The move is completed! Zzzzz
Written @ 1:38 a.m. on September 19, 2005

I am moved. I think what I hate the most is the packing. I enjoy the moving part. I like the hustle and bustle, the noise and physical labor, the many people working together and having a pretty good time. To me, moving is the best part. I love having people around. I like having a house full of people. I just wish I had that all the time. I don't like there just being my Mom, brother and I. I'm used to my older brother, Dad and Grandma always being there too. I miss my big family and wish I had it back all of the time.

My youngest cat Max absolutely flipped out after we got him into the new place. He yowled and wouldn't come out from behind the tv stand for about five hours. My other cat Smokey is an old pro at moving and just took everything in, then stretched out on the floor and looked like the happiest cat in the world. For some reason, none of us were ever at home in our other apartment, but everyone was just instantly at ease here. We have a huge living room facing the front, so we can see everything going on outside. We have a big kitchen with a gas stove (Yeay) and a fancy ceiling fan and sliding glass doors. Then we have a garage, basement (In pretty good shape. Usually I absolutely hate basements, but this one doesn't bother me too badly), a cozy smaller bedroom that my brother has, a small but not too bad bathroom, and then the master bedroom, which has a double window and a lot of room. It is really a great place. It's just that we face a golf course, and right beside that is a major freeway. So we can see the traffic going by and at night it seems that the noise from the semi trucks is very loud. That's so far the only downside. I might get used to it over time though. The woman who used to live here smoked like a chimney though, so we're desperately trying to get the smoke smell out. My uncle says a dehumidifier and a few air fresheners in the basement will work, so we're going to try it soon. Also, the woman had a small dog and it seems it had a love of corners, because it peed in every one of them. One of the springy doorstops even rusted because of it. I'm hoping that just running a rug shampooer over the carpet will work. Supposedly they did that before we moved in, but the maintenance has lied about stuff before, and I'm betting this was another one.

We did meet our neighbor tonight, though, she came out to introduce herself when we came home from doing a final cleaning on the other place. She is a sweet lady who has lived there for almost a year now, with her 25 year old son. He's getting married in December, so he probably won't be living with her after that. I was so worried that we wouldn't have nice neighbors. It seems everywhere we live we don't, so this is going to be an incredibly welcome change. I think she and my Mom are going to get along very well. They have quite a bit in common.

I am exhausted, so I am headed for bed. Moving takes a whole lot of energy.
