It was just like Bambi, only with a plot twist
Written @ 1:00 a.m. on June 18, 2005

It is too quiet. My lil' brother is over at a friends house, for a birthday-party/sleep over. No constant noise, no running around. Anyway, he's not here and there is no sound. It's not natural. There is one reason why I'm very glad he wasn't around tonight..

First of all, Mom and I dropped him off at his friends and did a version of the born-free sprint in a car. It was gorgeous today. Columbus was even beautiful, with the sunlight and shadows playing off the skyscrapers in the distance. But we went out to dinner (I had the crispy ChicKen parmesean, she had the fish dinner), and we went to get ice cream at the fancy-shmancy Gr@eter's (try the M0cha-chip) and then we drove home.

(And now we come to the reason I'm glad he wasn't around)
Upon driving back, and watching my ice cream cone leak out the bottom all over my clean, light lavender shirt, a van in front of us started acting crazy and stopped in front of us. Another car put on it's four way flashers and pulled into the turn lane in the middle of the road. We were both kinda like what the hell, then the van made a u-turn and drove off the other way, so we continued on home. From our apartment we have a clear view of the road we were on. People in the van and a few more cars pulled over and stopped. I thought someone had collapsed and someone covered them with a blanket. We waited for the ambulances to come, but instead two Gr0ve City police and a Fr@nklin County SheRiff pulled up. It turns out it wasn't a person, someone had hit a deer and run off, leaving it to die in the middle of the west-bound lane (we didn't see it, we were heading east). The deer was still alive and in pain, so the sheRiff got a rifle from his cruiser and shot it to put it out of it's misery. We were close enough to see the whole thing. However, here's the crazy thing; the deer decided it wasn't his day to go to that big forest in the sky after all, and ran off into the woods and the officers couldn't find it again. I guess it's too much to hope it will survive and be all right, but I'm just an optimist like that. Go Bambi go.
